📊 Marketplace Profit Comparison

Estimate one seller scenario from your own fee, tax, cost and logistics assumptions.

What the current calculator includes

This tool calculates one scenario at a time. It uses the selling price, product cost, marketplace-fee percentage, tax percentage, shipping cost, packaging cost and one combined return/RTO cost entered in the form. The percentages are applied to the selling price; the other values are deducted as fixed amounts for that scenario.

How the estimate is calculated

Estimated profit equals selling price minus product cost, marketplace-fee amount, tax assumption, shipping, packaging and return/RTO cost. Estimated margin equals that profit divided by selling price, multiplied by 100. Review every input before using the result because a missing cost can make the estimate look stronger than the actual contribution.

How to compare two scenarios

The page does not show two scenarios side by side. To compare marketplaces or fee plans, run the first set of assumptions, record the output, then enter the second set and compare the two recorded results. The tool does not currently provide separate fixed-fee or advertising-cost fields; include only costs that fit the available inputs and document anything handled outside the calculator.

What the result does not represent

This is an independent planning estimate, not an official fee table, settlement statement, tax calculation or profit guarantee. Marketplace deductions, payment adjustments, returns, advertising, taxes and logistics terms can vary. Reconcile an important decision with current marketplace documents and your own accounts.

Worked example

Practical example

For a selling price of ₹1,000, product cost ₹500, marketplace fee 15%, tax assumption 5%, shipping ₹60, packaging ₹20 and return/RTO cost ₹40, the estimated fee is ₹150, the tax assumption is ₹50 and estimated profit is ₹180. The displayed margin is 18%. This example uses only the fields in the current tool.

Limitations

  • Only one scenario is calculated at a time; there is no side-by-side comparison view.
  • Fixed fees and advertising spend do not have dedicated inputs.
  • The result is only as complete as the assumptions entered.
  • It is not an official settlement, tax or profitability statement.

Privacy and file processing

The working numbers are calculated in the browser tab. Avoid entering confidential business data unless browser processing is appropriate, and review the Tool Privacy & File Processing Policy. Read the full policy.

FAQs

Does this compare two marketplaces side by side?
No. The current runtime calculates one set of assumptions. Record each result separately if you want to compare scenarios.
Which costs are included?
Only the selling price, product cost, fee percentage, tax percentage, shipping, packaging and combined return/RTO cost entered in the form.
Does the result match a marketplace settlement?
Not necessarily. It is a planning estimate and does not reproduce every marketplace deduction, adjustment or contract term.
Can the estimate guarantee profit?
No. Actual profit depends on complete costs, realised sales, returns, taxes, fees and other business conditions.
